Còig is a Scots Gaelic word that means “five.” And the five witches of our mystical coven are each represented by a point on the star below. Each girl was born with special abilities and gifts from her ancient line of powerful witches. When the five are in harmony and in sync with each other, life is better for everyone around them.
Second Sight ~ Caitrin Macleod (heroine of The Taming of the Wolf)
Cait is blessed, if you can call it that, with the ability to see the future. Sometimes the future brings comfort and sometimes it can be maddening. And poor Cait doesn’t always have the ability to block the futures of unknown people from invading her mind.
Healer ~ Elspeth Campbell (Westfield; heroine of Tall, Dark and Wolfish)
Most of the time, El’s knowledge of herbs and plants is all that is required to heal the sick, but when something more powerful is needed, a healing power resides within her fingertips. However, when El cares about someone, healing them can endanger her life.
Elements ~ Rhiannon Sinclair
More so than any of the other witches, Rhi’s emotions can intensify her powers. When she’s sad it rains. When she’s angry, it thunders. When she’s happy, sunshine warms her skin. It is deucedly inconvenient for Rhi to have her emotions on constant display for all of those around her.
Battle ~ Blaire Lindsay
Speaking of power residing within one’s fingertips, Blaire can conjure a ball of flames in the palm of her hand. She’s strong and quick with a strategic mind, a witch born to be a warrior, not one to play parlor games or practice the art of flirting.
Harvest ~ Sorcha Ferguson
Sorcha is never lonely. If she doesn’t have her coven sisters for company, there’s always a nearby plant, tree or flower nearby with whom she can have a conversation. In fact, there’s always a vine or two ready to do her bidding.
The stories of Rhiannon, Blaire and Scorcha will be told in our next series, coming out in 2011!
